Where is DOJ?

Today news broke of a grand jury returning an indictment against Michael Sussman for lying to the FBI when he “stated to the General Counsel of the FBI that he was not acting on behalf of any client in conveying particular allegations concerning a Presidential candidate.” This indictment as reported by NYT was sought by John Durham, the special counsel appointed by Trump to investigate the origins of the Russia investigation. The indictment on face value is absurd when taking into account that Trump and his installed proxies did everything to sabotage and discredit an investigation into a multi-faceted attack on US elections by an adversary seeking our demise, in 2016 and 2020, to install Trump. I mean, we all remember when Trump fired former FBI director Comey and then bragged to FM Lavrov and Russian Ambassador to the US, Kislyak, that it relieved “great pressure” off him because the investigation was over. Or so Trump thought.

Since then we have seen endless crimes committed and done very publicly, corruption on a grand scale, extortion of Ukraine, and a deadly insurrection organized by Trump and his cronies. The attack on the US continues every single day with deadly disinformation being pushed by Trump, Bannon, Giuliani, Flynn, his cronies in Congress, and so many others, about the 2020 election, and a deadly pandemic that has taken over 650,000 American lives. The Kremlin continues its attack on the US, one of their main goals is delegitimizing our fair and free elections and causing distrust of our institutions. Their Russian intelligence services continue generating and amplifying messages of division and election lies, covid disinformation, cyberattacks, etc. Yet the indictment that gets delivered is to Michael Sussman. Really?

Giuliani, since at least 2016, worked with Russian intelligence operatives to attack US elections. Bannon has worked with far-right parties across Europe with Kremlin operative Aleksandr Dugin, was involved in the insurrection on our Capitol, and most recently was involved with Bolsanro in Brazil, who is attempting to organize his own coup. Jason Miller was detained and questioned by Brazilian police just last week. Trump and his family continue their attack on America yet it seems that no agency fully investigated why Putin chose Trump for 2016. There is plenty of documented evidence of Trump’s dealings with Russian organized crime figures, intelligence operatives (in Russia mafia and intelligence services are one in the same, and work very closely together), going back to Soviet days. Yet during the 2016 election, this was the focus of only a few. We heard the question over and over of why Trump put Putin on a pedestal while denigrating the United States, yet the answer was very clear had they looked. Trump’s whole organization is a criminal mafia enterprise that since the 1980s has been floated by Russian money.

So again, why was Mr. Sussman indicted for a sham investigation organized by a Trump-installed appointee? America is in a very dangerous position right now with half of the country who believe the lie, that the 2020 election was stolen, and are perfectly fine supporting the Republican party, who have taken a dangerous authoritarian turn and are willing to perpetrate violence for power, suppress voting, and just ignore election results if they have a chance. Trump and his cronies are putting measures in place to do just that. They want sham elections like in Putin’s Russia. The only way to stop our country from getting into the hands of an authoritarian regime is by holding Trump and his cronies accountable. And not for insurance or tax fraud but for their crimes against America. Insurrectionists do not belong in Congress and need to be indicted. Consequences for crimes committed will make others think twice about attacking our country and Constitution. And most importantly we need public hearings that will reveal the danger Trump and Co pose to our national security with all crimes committed made public. The public deserves to know and sweeping these crimes under the rug will only make it more dangerous for America’s future.
